Mahindra Scorpio Owner review by Mr.Ananda Kumar |
I was planning to buy an SUV for quite sometime. Initially I planned
for a user Bolero, upgraded my mind to new Bolero. Even considered
Sumo Later. Plan upgraded to Safari or Scorpio. Just read on the net
that new CRDe based engines are coming to Indian SUVs and the first
one was Scorpio.
With out even a test drive I just booked for the new Scorpio with a
CRDe engine. Although I had some issues with the local dealer, not
many complaints against this machine and particularly the engine I was
eagerly waiting to own.
1 year down the lane, the engine still feels like new after 32000 kms.
At high speeds of 120km/hr + the vehicle makes me feel unsafe. The
over all mileage of 12/kms/ltrl of diesel makes me quite happy.
The suspension has some issues and the last row ride is really bumpy
if the road is not good. The suspension makes some noise but overall
the vehicle is quite silent.
The cassette player, which came with the vehicle free, is almost
useless as my city hardly has any FM stations and I can hardly
maintain cassettes. Better if they had not given it.
After buying the vehicle I had a test drive on Dicor and I was happy
that I didn't purchased it. Unable to compare it with Innova as I
didn't like the looks.
I think the Mahindra guys know few of the shortcomings I mentioned and
they have fixed some in the latest version.
Overall rating 7/10.
